I wake up every morning with a great desire to live joyfully. ~ ~ Anna Howard Shaw
Anna Howard Shaw used her intelligence to make people listen and want them to feel like woman's equal rights are something worth a gaining. She was famous for her capacity to give amazing speeches and compel the people that she is speaking to. During a tour for the National American Woman Suffrage Association, Anna stopped in Portland and she made sure to interact in speaking to the people, joining luncheons and attend strategy meetings.
In 1914, while Anna was president of the NAWSA still, a success was achieved. "The General Federation of Women's Clubs passed a resolution supporting woman suffrage, giving the movement mainstream acceptability and respectability"(Gorman, p.1).
Other achievements that occurred were from the reign about 1910 to 1914, where seven states of the West gave women the right to vote! Which is a huge accomplishment.
