Hey folks! @NathanDowney at City Hall gearing up for another edition of the St John's City Council meeting
If tonight's meeting is half as exciting as last week's, we're all in for a good show
On tonight's agenda: Find out the fate of that crumbling cement staircase between Long's Hill and Harvey Road.
Will Council preserve the historic staircase or sacrifice it at the altar of progress?
Just kidding. That's too complex an issue to untangle in a single council meeting.
For realz this time: the proposed extension of the Marriott Courtyard Hotel on Duckworth is up for discussion by Council
The hotel extension has rankled some Gower Street homeowners who think it'll truncate their view of the Narrows and sink property values
But at the same time, the proposed extension would provide a partial solution to the dearth of hotel rooms in town.
It should be an interesting debate.
I just noticed that the armrests of the mayoral throne are carved wooden dogs! The Twin Dachshunds of Municipal Might!

Nar sign of Council yet, but the anticipation is palpable up here in Council Chambers
Sneak peek at the new abstract Impressionism exhibit at the Rooms. Psych! It's the highly legible agenda http://via.me/-7azn8pa
I see my suggestion to retire the City Hall mimeographs was coolly discarded
I'm sincerely hoping autocorrect can cope with my clumsy thumbstrokes a bit better this going off
His Worship is here. And we're off!
Council is all here minus Deputy Mayor Duff and Councillor Bruce Tilley
Mayor O'Keefe introducing the Purple Ribbon Campaign in the proclamations
It's 16 days of activism to heighten awareness and prevention of violence against women
Councillor O'Leary: presenting a notice of motion to formalize relations betweent the City of StJ and the St John's Port Authority
