As a journalism student, I must stay informed with the news. I have followed three journalists on Twitter for eight consecutive weeks. In my report, I will analyze their use of Twitter as well as sharing my first-hand experience with the platform.

Analysis of three journalists' use of Twitter

I have selected David Carr, Glenn Greenward and Paul Krugman for the Twitter report.
David Carr is a columnist working for the New York Times. He usually writes about journalism in his articles ranging from the changing trend of journalism, the future of journalism and his views on media culture. According to the New York Times, he has been writing for 25 years on media issues including print, digital, film, radio as it intersects with business, culture and government.
Carr is an active Twitter user. He tweets about both his personal and professional life every day. So far he has tweeted 25,557 tweets. He has 436,963 Twitter followers and he is following 734 people.
Would normally tweet a link to monday column i landed about now, but was busy landing this instead. http://t.co/MWk60aSyDs · david carr
Not only does he write about journalism, he also shares what he read and promptly responds to other people. He prefers the create a new tweet himself to share what he read rather than retweeting from the Twitter of the publication he read from. I notice that Carr uses the @ sign a lot to cite his source but he rarely uses hashtag, the # sign to label his content. Here are a few examples:
Carr is also cited by his fellow journalists on their Twitter. It shows that he actively participates in discussing with other people. His Twitter is the platform for him to interact and communicate with his co-workers to exchange their views. He retweets what other people wrote about him when his name is mentioned with an @ sign.

Glenn Greenwald is an American journalist working for the Guardian. He used to work as a constitutional lawyer. He writes about civil rights in relation to the recent leaks of the U.S. surveillance program by Edward Snowden. Greenwald is a stalwart supporter of civil liberties.

Greenwald has posted 41,163 tweets. He is following 860 people and has 304,086 followers. His Twitter is mainly used for his professional life and his interaction with his followers about his comments as well as reports on the news about government surveillance.
The news focus of Glenn Greenwald is clearly defined. It is mostly about criticisms on the government, surveillance and freedom of the press. He is highly participative in Twitter. Greenwald discusses, debates with followers frequently and responds to their questions about what he tweeted. As shown below, he posted more than 4 tweets within a one-hour period just to report and reply to his followers. From the eight-week period that I have followed his Twitter, he posted at least two tweets every day.
