Monday, 2nd September 2013: Welcoming event for the NHS graduate management trainees 2013
Storified by NHS Leadership Academy · Wed, Sep 04 2013 04:49:04
The induction was set out to reflect the values of current leadership thinking. Displaying collaboration, dispelling myths about great leaders at the front - it should be inclusive, it should show compassion, and hear their voice as much as others.
It helped new trainees reflect on their values and the values of the NHS as well as their own beliefs about the possibilities of the improvement process.
The day helped trainees to understand the context of their work and how it can help shape health outcomes - whatever their role or position i.e. how they personally can contribute to the broader aims of improving healthcare.
Trainees had the opportunity to hear and explore the voice of:
Other trainees past and present
Other senior leaders
The NHS Leadership Academy
Each other
Service users/patients
Clinicians
Their Academic providers
Others from their host organisations (dinner)
Trainees also had the opportunity to explore and question any fundamentals of the programme they require clarity about, spending time with each of their academic providers.
It set out that they are an opportunity for change. Exposing them to some of the big challenges ahead. Here are the highlights from social media activity throughout the day:
