10:53 - LEALIIFANO DRIVING BRUMBIES FORWARD: Should the Brumbies win, the entire team needs to pitch in to buy Lealiifano a real life brumby. He has arguably been the most consistent kicker this season and just broke the Australian record for most points in a single season. 230 of his team's points are his and without him his team would have 0 today. Mr Lealiifano, I salute you. 12-22 to the Brumbies.
10:47 - DEFENDING FOR THEIR LIVES: The Chiefs are literally defending for their lives in this game. Their opponents are camped inside their 5-metre line and asking some very difficult questions. If the Brumbies go over it will take a miraculous fight back for the defending champions to take this. Could Jake White about to win against a team from New Zealand in New Zealand. 12-19 56 minutes in.
10:41 - SQUEAKY BUM TIME: It's still early in the second half but it's getting to the point where the game could get away from the them. A few moments of ill discipline and the Brumbies could build a big enough lead to sit on. Their deficit and the occasion also means that desperation could make them do silly things.
10:20 - HALF TIME: The visitors are defying all predictions and go into half time with the lead and the momentum. It cannot be denied that they have been the better team, especially in the breakdowns where they have been immense. On defence they have heaped pressure onto the defending champions and bullied them into making mistakes, one of which lead to a try. If the Chiefs want to retain their title they're going to have to find a way to take advantage of the gaps they create. What will give them hope is that White's men have not been particularly disciplined and unless they sort that out the home team will always have a way back into the game. It would also help their case if they gave Ben Tameifuna more of whatever it is they fed him before the game. The man has been marauding all over the pitch causing havoc and battering anyone in his path. If they can get him anywhere near the line it would be very hard to stop him going over. Half time score 9-16 to the Brumbies.
10:17 - LEALIIFANO BREAKS THROUGH: Christian Lealiifano, intercepted a sloppy Chiefs pass and flew down the field to get the game's first try. The visitors are not giving the hosts any time to fashion chances and forcing them into mistakes. White and his boys are looking very strong. 9-16 to the Brumbies
10:14 - BIG BEN THE BEAST: Tameifuna is terrorising the Brumbies. Kuridrani was first to be on the receiving end of a pummeling from the big Chiefs prop and now veteran George Smith was flattened like a stale pancake.
10:01 - CHIEFS NOT READY TO ABDICATE: There are moments when it looks like the Chiefs are just showing off. The great hand speed of their backs and ability to get quick ball has meant that they have been able to run the ball up the field from deep in their own half. I am not sure how long they can sustain it for though. 6-9 to the Brumbies 30 minutes in.
09:48 - BRUMBIES BOLT OUT THE GATES: Two-time champions, the Brumbies have started the game powerfully. In typical White fashion, they're not playing any rugby in their own half and when they do get into the Chiefs half they are making the home defence earn their money with some powerful phase play and accurate kicking. Anyone who thought this would be a cake walk for the hosts is sadly mistaken. 0-6 to the Brumbies 19 minutes in.
09:38 - GOD BLESS NEW ZEALAND: As the competition draws to a close, I find myself feeling a touch nostalgic. Who can forget Rene Ranger flattening James O'Connor or the Sharks putting 10 tries past the Rebels before their season imploded? What are your best moments of the season?
09:13 - FINAL DAY: Good morning rugby fans and welcome to the biggest day in the Super Rugby championship. All of the lesser teams have been weeded out and we are now left with the two best teams in the league, The Chiefs and The Brumbies. Barring the odd hiccup both teams have had exceptional seasons and are the winners of their respective conferences. The Australians remind me a bit of a sports movie hero. Two seasons ago they were basement battlers and now, after a rather long training montage, they have fought back to face off against Super Rugby's version of Apollo Creed. I have many problems with his style of play but you cannot deny that Jake White knows how to win. The home side have everything going in their favour. They're overall log winners, at home and boast the second best fly-half in the world. Their backs are pretty decent as well. They were the most prolific team in the log stages scoring 458 points, 50 of which came from tries. Dave Rennie's side is gunning for their second consecutive title and dispatched with a scarily good Crusaders side to get this far. Both sides have looked good in defence in the play-offs but the hosts have the more potent attack. Having said that let's not forget Kuridrani. Whichever way this goes it should be a great one. I love to hear your thoughts so feel free to air them in our comments section.
