"Whatever they thought they could achieve they've already failed," he said of the suspected bombers. "We as Americans refuse to be terrorized."

Friday, April 19: 9:48 pm ET: Commissioner Ed Davis took questions from the press, announcing the suspect and law enforcement had exchanged gunfire when he was found in the boat. "The citizens of city of Boston and this area can be confident
that the threat has removed," Davis said. "This is the stuff, in an urban police department, that is
almost unheard of," he said, detailing the IEDs, hand grenades, and other improvised devices that were found on the scene last night. The suspect was identified by a heat sensor from a helicopter. The suspect is currently in serious condition.
Friday, April 19: 9:40 pm ET: At a press conference shortly after the suspect was captured, a stream of politicians and law enforcement spoke to honored the victims of both the Boston Marathon victims and the police officer who lost his life last night. "We have a suspect in custody," Colonel Timothy Alben announced at the opening. "Thank you, thank you, thank you," Mayor Menino said. "I feel so good about this, I tell you, I'm so happy."
