A powerful image of a young boy protesting the events unfolding in Syria:

Here is an overview and timeline on the current status of Syria's Civil War

Save the Children:

Syrian children have been victims of torture, rape, hunger, and extremely traumatic experiences since the conflict began in 2011. These events have devastating effects on the mental health, physical health, and the well being of these children. The next generation of Syrian's will need all the help they can get in order to prosper in the future. Schools and hospitals are major places in which quality of life can be sustained. Most have been destroyed by the ruthless fighting. Foreign aid has been trying to help these children that are under fire every day. There's no where to hide, everyone is a target. Save the Children is just one of the many organizations that are trying to help out. For now most organizations are helping out in the short term but the long term repair of Syria will be the real challenge.

Refugees:

Where is the international community?

So far no intervention by any nation has been declared except for humanitarian aid. Many countries are nervous about arming the rebel factions since some of them are defined as radical Islamics that have terrorist affiliations.
The recent stalemate in the fighting has pressured the International community to act. Assad must not obtain victory, the future of the Syrian children depends on a successful revolution.
