Career Plan Reflection
After completing the career plan assessments, within the last six weeks I can say that the next steps in my plan is occupational research and decision making. After completing the self-assessments, which help me to identify my personality, attitude, skills, and learning style. I have identified the right career paths that can only enhance these attributes. The next step in my plan is occupational research, which is where I investigate options available. Andolsen (2008), states, “A successful career plan makes this investigation as comprehensive and exhaustive as possible. Careful attention to each of the elements below can prevent false starts” (para.5). I will attain information through information search and interviews, job shadowing, and trending. The next step after occupation research is decision-making, which isI take the information gathered and make an informed decision about what direction I want my career to go in the future. This will be achieved through career and personal objectives.
After making a plan it is important to set milestones. Milestones created must be realistic and obtainable in charting progress. This is can be achieved through such measures as benchmarking and charting. With using the aforementioned measures with creating milestones will allow me to determine where I am from where I need to be and gives the opportunity to add or take away so that I can stay on track. These steps are important for establishing a career plan because properly documentingwhat isgetting done in the process and completing an analysis if certain goals are not obtained.

Lessons from Lehman Brothers: Will We Ever Learn?
What was the culture at Lehman Brothers like? How did this culture contribute to the company's downfall?
The culture at Lehman was one that rewarded risk takers and dubbed them as "heroes" while ignoring those who approached things with more caution. The Lehman Brothers were prioritizing short-term financial gain over long-term outcomes and relationships. They didn't care who they affected and what means it took to get them where they wanted to be no matter whom it hurt or offended. There doesn't seem to have been much concern for ethics, in general. The employee morale could not have been very high if those who were considering ethics and morals were being ignored or mistreated. It takes different personality types and views and opinions to build a successful company and there was no way Lehman could have continued at the success rate they had already achieved without considering this.
It seems that once the business got to a certain level of success and profit, there began a feeling of invincibility and caution was in thrown to the wind. Decisions were not made with ethics in mind, but profit. Lehman Brothers' risk-oriented culture encourages unethical decisions for financial gain, therefore there was risk-taking ideal and the overlooking of questionable behaviors. Professional ethics were put behind profit, with employees making questionable deals and being hailed for that and treated as conquering heroes (Robbins & Coulter, 2011). Lehman associates were accustomed to a very aggressive work environment, which included risk-taking and quick decision-making. Employees would begin undermining each other for jobs and recognition in order to gain advancement opportunities because of the stress on team play.
With the absolute lack of teamwork and cooperation, no business can thrive. Certainly no business can thrive and succeed at the level of the Lehman Brothers without considering this fact and supporting their employees who had concern for the actions of the company and the long-term outcomes. Also, unethical behavior and decisions very rarely go unnoticed or unpunished. If you are not found out by way of happenstance, there will be whistle blowers and your competitors who will always be willing to point out your shortcomings and wrongdoings to the right sources. This is what ultimately caused the downfall of the company.
