Eighteen months ago, HitsWorks Enterprises providedseed capital to create a pilot creative co-working space on a 20 acre parcel ofland in Rural Hall, North Carolina. We built a small YouTube Talk Show set andinstalled the basic video lighting, production and editing equipment.

That seed investment lead to a partnership withAuthoring Action and the development of an innovative plan for #Change TheWorld Movement & Bridging The Abyss Youth Talk Show (A Social MediaTraining platform). In addition, we have developed short and long term goalsfor SMOT Co-Working Studio headquarters. SMOT is an acronym for Social MediaOn-site Training. SMOT Headquarters has been developed to serve as a hub andlink between a network of smaller satellite (Neighborhood) creative stationsand Mobile Labs. We intended to provide low-opportunity neighborhoods access toproduction equipment and training so Low-Opportunity youth can engage with theworld online, experiment and create whatever their mind can imagine.

#Change The World Movement is a national initiativewith international relevance, designed in partnership with Authoring Action andWeefur Family Media to provide a platform to train low-opportunity youth inonline communications, remote business development and social media etiquette. HighSchool age student and eventually middle school age students will gain anunderstanding of the power, importance and the future of digitalcommunications. One of our goals is to teach low-opportunity youth how tobecome a competitive earner in the global digital age, and to encourage them tolearn to use video and the Internet more constructively, responsibly and withprofessional ethics.

Inaddition they will learn constructive and productive ways to use socialnetworking, virtual collaboration and online marketing as a tool for futureearning potential.

I was raised in Menlo Park, California which is nowthe home of Facebook’s world Headquarters. Growing up in Silicon Valley was agreat experience. When I was growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, television hadbecome the most powerful platform for the MASS MEDIA. Today the World Wide Weband Contemporary Student Thinkers pose a significant threat to Television andolder forms of MASS MEDIA.
