Above is the work I did during my Socialnn hours on Tumblr. I worked Monday and Tuesday at 5pm. On Monday I worked on sports and Tuesday I worked on entertainment. For me Tumblr was difficult, I had a hard time at first deciding what I wanted to post, except the Spurs winning the NBA Championship of course, but after that I had to look on Twitter and Facebook to see what people were talking about. After I had posted about five posts, I checked to see how they looked on the public page, I noticed that nothing was showing up. Even when I clicked the post there was nothing. I'll admit I panicked a bit because it wasn't working because I had already been working for an hour and I knew I had to repost everything even though I had no idea what I had done wrong. So I texted Quigley to help me and I even went and re-watched the tutorials on canvas. I was posting everything with the "Links" tab and Rob suggested that I just use the "Text" and "Photo" tab only. I was able to repost everything but it did take a while. I had to go find my links and articles again and I had to find my own photos and accredit them correctly.
For Tuesday I was a little more careful with the way I posted everything. After I posted something I immediately made sure that it was showing up correctly so I didn't have to do everything over again at the last minute. I also spent more time searching through other Tumblr pages, Monday I didn't do that much because I was still trying figure out how to work the site but Tuesday I was a little bit more interactive.
I think I can improve more with my interacting, especially when I reblog something. For me the difficult part of reblogging is figuring out another caption to write because the caption already on there is simple and to the point. So for my own captioning I was a little more playful with it. My first post was probably my favorite, I wrote my own little paragraph about the Spurs and Kawhi Leonard. To me it sounded like a good nut graph, maybe with a little editing it could have been one I used on a potential story. Over all I'm still trying working out the kinks of Tumblr but I definitely feel that I'll be almost a pro by the end of the week.

Throughout history, America has seen itself as the shinning city on the hill where success and riches are rewarded to those who seize opportunities. At the same time, Americans are promised that as long as elect people who support their interests, law-makers will a way to achieve these goals, even if it means compromise. In the past few years, Americans have seen their government fail time and time again to bring legislation into fruition, they have seen the nation's interests take a back seat to ideology. From a social work standpoint, it is impossible to provide help to individuals when law-makers constantly sacrifice civil benefits and programs in the name of their ideals. It's easy to defend conflict in democracy when losing doesn't involve losing benefits or income to buy food. While in theory Americans thrive on conflict and work, eventually they expect results that can only come from compromise--a compromise they haven't seen in years.
But what happens where there is no compromise?
These gummy bears show us how easily society can devolve into chaos when politicians refuse to compromise. That's the path we are heading down under the current political climate. Any balanced person can say that both sides are to blame, but evidence has shown us that the Republican Party has really become the "Party of NO."
Even with a House of Representatives majority, that's still a NO! Republicans constantly and systematically opposed legislation that was proposed by the president.
Before John Boehner became speaker of the House, he stated that the Republican's job was to slow down or kill any plan in President Obama's agenda.
After 2 years of doing nothing, the American people were promised after the 2012 Presidential election, the ideological conflict that had stopped progress in the government would end and law-makers would work to make the country better. And then this happened...
Images like these became an icon for everyone, not only in the US, but in the world to see what happens when compromise is not a goal for one side of the aisle.
The 2013 Government Shutdown was a result of Congress' failure to pass legislation necessary to appropriate funds for the 2014 fiscal year, or pass some form of legislation to continue funding the gov't until a compromise could be reached.
Conflict theory doesn't address the instability that struggle can cause a society. Social media paints a more personal picture of every agency that had to turn off its lights and shut the door when the struggle got out of hand.
