Differing planes of value for each connected 'thing': needs to be unpacked to understand the pieces required & the value of these: sector by sector, market by market, customer by customer
Different parts of the world have different human concerns & needs: not an electrical outage more an electrical onage ...addresses not working in Addis Ababa as the city infrastructure is fluid, not all location services operate in all locations
20% of US homes are not connected to the internet, so it is not a connected world vs unconnected world
Aging population in the western world: but not elderly, just an age thing ...the fastest growing cohort in the western world are the 55+ ...and designing for them is more challenging than for millennials. Needs to be made for people around you, provide signals that you are doing something else
Developed a cohort of users and developed a series of living experiments
Transparency allows the interaction with other people and Glass provides the social clues - looking up, captioning on glass, light on when it takes a picture etc.
Micro interactions: reducing the time between thought and interaction: aiming for 2 seconds per interaction, then it becomes an extension of yourself like a watch
Google Glass takes it's cues from the Palm Pilot interactions (Jeff Hawkins)! It enables micro interactions and not designed to replace the phone, the health device etc.... and by accident, fashion! Unless you can make it fashionable, it is not going to run ...

Also used for health and rehabilitation of people who have lost use of hands etc.
KEY: Glass is about reducing the task time (thought to interaction), if you can reduce the time to get the information, then people's days will be more efficient & therefore optimised
Augmented memory is driving some of the development now, to allow you to pull back something from the past which is relevant ...triggers in Glass for natural memory
It is designed around the principles of social clues ...so you can see what the wearer is doing, but a lot of press has been more on what they 'think' it is ...
More social good from the ability to capture & record an event, rather than not ...social good comes from transparency
