Hurricane Sandy - RI: State, city, town announcements

STATE: Peter Pan has suspended service Monday and Tuesday. Gov. Lincoln Chafee says non-essential state agencies, including state courts, will be closed Monday. U.S. District Court in Providence is closed Monday. Fox Point Hurricane Barrier was closed Monday morning. The Newport Pell and Mount Hope bridges may be closed temporarily based on wind speeds.

President Obama holds a 6-point lead over Mitt Romney in Michigan, according to a new Detroit Free Press/WXYZ-TV poll released on Wednesday. The poll shows Obama leading Romney 48 percent to 42 percent among likely voters, up from a 3-point lead after the first presidential debate, in which Obama's s flat performance sparked a Romney surge.
