11:47pm Opposition-backed Sylhet mayoral candidate Ariful Haque Chowdhury has unofficially been declared victor in the Sylhet mayoral elections. He beat his closest candidate, Badar Uddin Ahmed Kamran, backed by the government by 107,330 to 72,173 votes.
Kamran has congratulated Ariful Haque Chowdhury on his victory.

12:20pm Alam Sardar, of more than 40 years of age, died in Khulna this morning when he was rushed to the hospital after he had a cardiac arrest as he was being
chased by Rab. He was there along with some other supporters of Charmonai who brought out a procession violating the election code.
12:10pm Police has arrested two youths, Abdul Malik, 18 and Fazlur Rahman, 22, in connection to threaten Finance Minister Abul
Mal Abdul Muhith through sms.
